Garden Update – Part III
Posted by Rob Holmes in Personal on July 8, 2009
So now we are filling the hole back in, we have a bit better update than ‘Wow that’s a big hole init?’ and more of ‘This is what we have done, and its not just digging a hole!’ So we have built the inner wall for the track round, steps to get over the track and on to the path, and connected the circle line to the new section.
This shows the steps and the ‘tunnel’ where the 2 tracks lines will go under. It will be decking on top and the brick that is there will be smaller but will box this end in to look like 2 exits.
Another view with the 2 points, there will be 2 more Y’s at the far end, to split off on to the track though the heathers.
This image shows the wall where the track runs along, we have left a gap between these 2 rocks so we can put a bridge in, like my lovely paint drawing
O BTW that stone that hangs over the track will be made small, as it is currently to low, we will just take a bit off the bottom.
The other side with the wall awaiting the track.
This shows the new sidings that are now straight, I hope to get 3 tracks along there, but that is in the future.
So, for now, that’s it!
Garden update… Part II

Ok, so I have another update on the Garden project. We have pretty much done taking rock and soil out of the hole, and started to create the track and wall line round. My dad reckons on 22 tons of rock and soil have been removed from here. I think that’s a bit over, but close!
All that rock will be used in the wall that goes round the outside.
These are 3 of the rocks that we have chiselled out so the train can fit round. The last one (Far right) the train will go under the rock on top.
This is the line of the track (About). It splits in to 2 at both left and right. You should be able to see if better later when we get the walls in.
We brought all the sand up the other day ready for building the wall and laying the flags.

So we have done the summer house at the right side. So we were looking for something else to start on. The summer house gets the sun in the evening. The left side of the garden gets in more in the morning and through the day. It used to have the train track go round with a 2 foot wall holding the soil back. This left a pretty small area for a small seat. So we thought if we took a bit of soil out and move the track back it would make a better area. The problem is, once you start its hard to stop!

As you can see, its big hole now. A lot of rock to. Which is the reason for the breaker.
Its a bit rocky. We use a ‘Geda’ to move all the soil and rock to the top of the garden. With a wheel barrow on it. Fill the buckets, tips buckets in to wheel barrow and then send it to the top. Once at the top, the barrow is removed and another one is placed on. It then needs to be taken 18meters out the top of garden, up the hill. We fill a trailer using a ramp. Its takes a bit of going. But we are getting there!
This is the current state today, with 2 trailer loads out today! This is as far as we are going, just need to go down the level now with the path.
As you can see, its all rocks, and HUGE ones. The flat surface behind the buckets is one, there is one under the cover near pick. There is a few about. We have already removed one that was 2 foot deep. About 5 feet long and 2 feet wide. One of the stones there is the top of it! Lol
At least the summer house is done. With the special grass on the roof and pigs! (They are fake…). The track isn’t down yet, as we are completing the other side first. Then placing all the track and points down at once.
Lets just hope its a good summer after all this!
Little project for my dad

My dad has been working on a new ‘Covered sitting out area’ over the last few weeks, and its not complete yet, but the roof went on today. So i thought I was post some pictures for you all to see.
First without the roof
From the path, the bridge on the left is for our railway (16mm narrow-gauge)
The inside, the railway will come in to the sides (Through a hole) and round the back of the sitting area
Here is the left hand side, the hole is going to be cut
Here is the rest of the lower garden and railway
I will post some images when its done and try and find a picture of it before (As I forgot to take one). Back soon!
