Hi
I recently got a GameCom 777 headset from PixaMania for a 1 day special of £50 including P+P. I had been looking for a new headset to replace my Sharkroon Majestic 5.1. After looking at bit-techs review on the 777 I thought I would look around the internet for some more reviews before buying. I found some people saying it was very good and some saying it was bad. But there was a lot more people saying good things. So I finally got it.
I was a bit disipionted it didn’t come in the box many people get on reviews, but it was a special price. The headset is a stero one but comes with a USB Dolby surround sound. The headset is very well built, bit plasticy but its a good plastic. The wire is nice anti tangle (Not that it always works) and the in-line control is a good addition. If not to high up the wire for my setup. Installtion is easy, bit to easy. I used the USB connection, this doesn’t need any drivers as the 5.1 to 2 cleaver bit is all hardware based. So no drivers. Easy plug in and play. I had it work on Windows 7. The USB allows me to switch between Speakers and Headset inside windows without the need to mess with plugs. And with windows 7 its on the fly, so I don’t have to restart TF2 or Skype just to get it to change to headset. The quality of sound isn’t to bad. Bass could be better otherwise it is very good. The 5.1 to 2 works very well. Its nearly as good as 5.1 headset it replaced. I can see why 2 headset are better than 5.1 as more is spent on the speakers in the headset, were as 5.1 it is spread out and you get cheap speakers. This means sound quality is a lot better on stereo headsets. At first the headphones were tight on my head (Been so big and all) but with they been stretched a bit they soon move and fit very nicly on your head. I wouldn’t give it 100% on comfort, but not bad!
Verdict:
The GameCom 777 is a good headset for £50-60. Its recommend! The bass needs a bit more power and the comfort isn’t perfect. But build quality and sound quality overall isn’t bad at all!
Score:
8/10 (Not bad)
