Hi, with my new netbook comes the world of Wifi, I haven’t used it that much before only for our Wii and my sisters laptop when she comes round. With my WRT54GL comes the requirement to mod it. Although I haven’t added any heat-sinks or fans yet. I have got 2 new antennas to increase my range and strength. So I get these 2 off ebay for £6 each. All way from Hong Kong. They came the other day and after adding them, it didn’t help. The signal was up and down even more. So today I have been playing with the setting and found that turning the TX from 70 (Default in DD WRT) to 110TX made the new antennas more stable and got better results, but not by far! So was it worth it? I will let you know in a few days after some more testing. But not bad for £12. They look cool tho! I might next put some heat-sinks on and maybe even a fan and boost it to 130TX, but only maybe. Here is a picture of it.
You might wonder why its on the side, it improves the strength more that the £12 antennas!
UPDATE: For now they are off, They are just a tiny bit less effective than the normal ones at range. I don’t no what to think, my WAG200 is slightly better that WRT54GL. Have to look in to it another day.
